Samara Region Development Corporationtook part in a press-conference on the project of Kurumoch airport development

On February 3, 2014 a meeting on the status of the project on construction of a new air-terminal complex of Kurumoch airport for 2013 took place in Kurumoch International Airport. Representatives of “Samara Region Development Corporation” OJSC, the Ministry of transportation and highways of the Samara region and Management Company “Aeroporty Regionov” CJSC took part in a working meeting.

Current stage of a project, relevant issues concerning its implementation, performance and financial indicators following the results of 2013 as well as target indicators for 2014 were discussed during the meeting.

After the working meeting, participants of the meeting and members of the media visited the construction site. Works on site preparation for a new passenger terminal were started in April, 2013, the official ceremony of pithing of the first pile took place in July, and today the construction is in full swing. New air-terminal is located at the northeast of existing terminal and its area will be about 41,7 thousand sq.m which will allow to serve more than 3.5 million passengers per year with service level “C” according to IATA classification.

As of the beginning of February, assembling of piling field is fully completed, including the piles for installing boarding bridges’ rotundas , and foundation piling is almost done, part of works on it is planned for March, 2014. The assembly of metal structures on the level of 2nd and 3d floors of future terminal is in progress. The project is being implemented in accordance with the schedule fixed in the Investment agreement, performance of works is just 1-2 weeks behind the schedule. Tenders on supplying technological equipment, boarding bridges, inspection equipment, systems of baggage handling were carried out earlier.

It is planned that the interface of new terminal will have been finished by spring and workers will start to assemble the roof and make the building fa?ade. Also the external utilities will be constructed. Landscaping and interior finish of the building will be carried out in summer and autumn.

Design documentation of the cargo terminal is now passed for state expert review and it is planned to start the construction in April. Demolishing of existing facilities in the site area for a new cargo terminal will start in the nearest future.

After inspection of the objects a press-conference was held where General Director of “Samara Region Development Corporation” Olga Serova, General Director of Management Company “Aeroporty Regionov” CJSC Evgeny Chudnovsky and Executive Directorof “Kurumoch International Airport” OJSC Sergey Krasnov took part. Members of the media got the answers on their questions related to the construction of new objects, current operation of the airport and tendencies of air transport market.

As Olga Serova noted, not only obligations on construction of a new passenger and cargo terminals were fulfilled but also the existing terminal was reconstructed. Sergey Krasnov told about changes made to the airport in order to increase the level of comfort for passengers seeing that this building will operate during the whole 2014. The scheme of passenger service was changed: earlier in the sector of domestic flights passengers could check-in only after passing through the preflight inspection; now registration of passengers and their luggage is carried out before preflight inspection which allow to fasten the speed of services and to eliminate the queues. Also extension to the building is being assembled now in order to allocate another 200 seats and new food court. In international flight hall, the customs inspection area was a “bottle-neck”; now the registration of passengers is carried out before customs and passport control.

After a new terminal will be commissioned, existing terminal will be reserved for the needs of serving the guests of FIFA World Cup in 2018.
