General Director of “Samara Region Development Corporation” OJSC Olga Serova and acting Deputy General Director Andrey Novikov also took part in the ceremony.

“Today we have here a moment that is significant not only for Samara land but also for all civil aviation. Breaking ground for a new air-terminal is always a very important event. I think that we will celebrate New Year holidays of 2015 in new comfortable and beautiful air-terminal complex”, - said the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maksim Sokolov who opened the ceremony of launching.

New air-terminal complex will be located in 1.5 km to the northeast of the existing one. Commissioning of a new terminal of the largest air port of Privolzhsky Federal District with the total area of more than 41.7 thousand sq.m is scheduled for December 31, 2014 at the latest.

Passenger terminal will have 5 floors. All services connected to the handling of the luggage (registration, claim, sorting etc.) will be carried out on the first floor. One level higher there will be an arrival gallery that will connect the exits from boarding bridges and passport control areas for international air flights and area of luggage claim. Next level will include red and green channels of custom control, passport control area for international airlines, common security screening area and separate holding rooms for domestic and international flights. Clear and logical organization as well as location of functional areas of a new terminal will create a comfortable atmosphere and simplify the process of orientation. Total capacity of a new air-terminal will be 1420 passengers per hour. After the completion of construction, the airport will be able to serve more than 3.5 million passenger per year. It will be possible for passengers to check-in at 24 counters.

Boarding gallery will be connected to the terminal building from the side of parking ramp and stationary pieces of boarding bridges will be located perpendicularly to the gallery; using these boarding bridges passengers will board the aircrafts. Seven boarding bridges are designed in the terminal (two doubled and three single) with connection to 5 stationary galleries as well as 6 gates to buses for carrying passengers to aircrafts. More than 1400 car spaces are planned at land side area, 800 of which are for short-term parking of the cars. Also parking lots for people with limited mobility are envisaged. New terminal complies with level of comfort “C” according to IATA classification and with other requirements of international air transportation. In order to increase commercial viability of the airport it is planned to hand some of air-terminal area for commercial areas and offices which is the important factor of improving the level of passenger service as well as of increasing of incomes and profitability of the project. Construction of a new terminal and related necessary infrastructure shall be completed by the end of 2014. Principal contractor of the project is “Kompakt” CJSC from St. Petersburg.

“I am grateful to holding “Aeroporty Regionov” and its partners for competent and modern approaches and I hope that here, in our land, we will have a terminal that will be not only our pride, but also the pride of all our country. That is why I wish success to all of us! We look forward to snipping a tape that will mean the commissioning of a new Samara air terminal”, - noted the Governor of the Samara region Nikolay Merkushkin. Managing director of Group of companies Renova Evgeny Olhovik stressed that “they really appreciate the trust given to the company by the management and residents of the region”. “We will try within a year and a half to provide Samara with the airport that it deserves”, - said Mr. Olhovik.

“Dear friends! Today we are finishing a very important, “paper” stage of the construction: design, fundraising, tenders, conclusion of the contract with the principle contractor, obtaining the permission for construction. We start the most anticipated and desirable stage: our project will be implemented during the following 530 days, although the Governor Nikolay Merkushkin kindly gave us the 531st day, for which we would like to say a special thanks to him. I think that efforts of our team together with the Ministry of Transport, the Government of the region, Samara Region Development Corporation and principle contractor will give their results and on New Year holiday you will be able to departure form a new terminal. On the one hand, 530 days is a lot, on the other hand – it’s little, but I think it is an adequate period for the projects like these. We will do our best and won’t fail!”, - summarized the General Director of Management Company “Aeroporty Regionov” Evgeny Chudnovsky.

We would like to remember that construction of a new passenger terminal is a part of a large investment program of Kurumoch International Airport stipulated by the Investment agreement concluded on January 17, 2012 between “Samara Region Development Corporation” OJSC and “Kurumoch-Invest” CJSC.
