The presentation of Kurumoch International Airport was held for FIFA delegation and organizing committee “Russia-2018”

FIFA delegation and Autonomous Nonprofit Organization “Organizing committee “Russia-2018” made an inspection visit to Samara on June 21, 2012 within a selection procedure for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Host cities in Russia.

During the inspection visit representatives of evaluation commission inspected the objects of Samara and the Samara region that will be involved in hosting matches of FIFA World Cup 2018.

Presentation of Kurumoch International Airport organized by “Samara Region Development Corporation” OJSC in association with the Government of the Samara region, “Kurumoch International Airport” OJSC and group of companies “Renova” became one of the main events of this visit.
General Director of “Koltsovo Airport” OJSC Evgeny Chudnovsky made a presentation for the experts of FIFA and Organizing committee “Russia – 2018” concerning the prospects of further development of air gate of the region and investment program on Samara airport, including construction of a new air terminal complex.

Unique potential of Kurumoch International Airport development was noted during the presentation and investment program on the airport was presented in details. Particular attention was given to the plans of fulfillment of FIFA requirements to the infrastructure of the airport for serving the guests and fans of World Cup, teams, official persons and delegations.

It was emphasized that implementation of the projects on development of airport and airfield infrastructure will allow not only to prepare Kurumoch airport for hosting matches of World Cup in Samara, but also to develop the airport as a regional hub, to give powerful impetus for construction industry of the region, creation of new work places, development of cargo and passenger transportation.

Samara is second to last city in the inspection tour around the cities pretending to host matches of FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

13 Russian cities are currently pretending to host the matches of the competition. To make the selection procedure objective Organizing committee “Russia-2018” developed a system of candidate cities evaluation that includes 5 main criteria: current availability of relevant infrastructure, level of their social and economic development, investment program on preparation for the competition, the concept of hosting World Cup in participating cities as well as efficient use of competition heritage.

Final list of cities approved for hosting matches of World Cup will be announced in October 2012.
