Samara Region Development Corporation took part in the meeting of the Government of the Samara region and Group of companies “Renova”

The Governor of the Samara region Nikolay Merkushkin and Chairman of the board of Group of companies “Renova” Viktor Vekselberg held the meeting on February 14 during which the main directions of the further cooperation between Group of companies “Renova” and the regional government were developed.

Members of the regional Government, management of “Samara Region Development Corporation” OJSC and subsidiary companies of GC “Renova” took part in the meeting. In his opening speech the Head of the region noted that all expenses on the joint projects would be possible to cover by efficient cooperation of the parties.

“The amount of cooperation is huge. If we are committed to a constructive dialogue, then, surely, we will reach the positive results in our team-work”, - stressed Nikolay Merkushkin. Viktor Vekselberg, in his turn, noted that the Samara region is among presence regions where the main directions of Group of companies activity are implemented.

“The significance of company’s “Renova” cooperation with the Government of the Samara region cannot be overestimated. Our cooperation is a good example of efficient public private partnership”, - added Viktor Vekselberg.

Currently, a project on large-scale reconstruction of Kurumoch International Airport is being implemented in the territory of the Samara region. In May 2012, the major share of “Kurumoch International Airport” OJSC stock was transferred to the ownership of GC “Renova” that acts as the main investor of the airport development project.

The Governor mentioned that reconstruction project is important not only for the Samara region but also for all Volga region as a whole. The first stage of the project implementation will have been completed by the end of 2014. The amount of investments will constitute 12 billion rubles. It is planned to build a modern passenger terminal with the total area of 40 thousand sq.m and capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year. Within the implementation of the second stage of the project it is planned to extend the terminal till 60 thousand sq.m and to build a cargo terminal and utility infrastructure facilities.

“It will be absolutely new airport. However, the amount of works may be increased. Everything depends on the passenger flow and on how general and civil aviation will develop. Eventually, Kurumoch will become the largest hub airport in Povolzhye”, - reported Nikolay Merkushkin.

It was stated in the meeting that the parties are planning to convince the federal authorities and “RZD” JSC of the necessity to have high-speed line Samara-Togliatti. The Head of “Renova” noted that Group of companies is ready to closely participate in this project as a financial partner. “Creation of such line will change the current situation in the region. Express train is a new quality of life for two cities with population above one million people. This means of transport will ensure easy access both to airport infrastructure and sports and educational facilities. We will fight for it together. I hope we will succeed”, - expressed his confidence Viktor Vekselberg.

The meeting was finished by signing the agreement between GC “Renova” and the regional Government. The Governor Nikolay Merkushkin and Chairman of the board of GC “Renova” Viktor Vekselberg put their signatures on the document. The document stipulates the cooperation of parties in the field of social and economic development of the Samara region, creation of new work places in the territory of the Samara region, implementation of investment projects and establishing of hi-tech enterprises based on advanced innovation technologies.
